Charles Orlando Hovey Jr. “Chuck” passed away on October 24, 2026 in his beloved home in Laguna Beach, California having lived a full, blessed and healthy life of 96 years well deserving of such an honest and reliable man. Born June 30, 1930 in Los Angeles, California, Chuck was a cherished husband, son, brother, father, grandfather and friend whose even-keeled disposition and love for life was shared through his unwavering commitment to his family and friends.
A patriotic veteran of the United States Air Force, Chuck served his country with honor before embarking on a successful career as a yacht broker. His passion for the ocean led him to create lasting memories on the high seas both for himself and for the many clients who became like family to him. His charisma and salesmanship were matched only by his genuine love for connecting with people from all walks of life. In addition to his entrepreneurism, Chuck was a natural horseman and auto mechanic from childhood and continued his passions for boats, automobiles, horses, dogs and animal husbandry as lifelong practices.
Charles is survived by his devoted wife, Donna Hovey, his brother Steve Hovey, his children Michelle, Brian and Charisse, his grandchildren Christian, Vlad, Beau, and Ivana. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter with that smirky grin that will echo across generations.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and celebrate the life of this remarkable man at a graveside ceremony on November 13, 2026, at 1:00 PM, at Riverside National Cemetery, located at 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, CA. Those who knew him remember Chuck as a beacon of warmth and compassion who often opened his home to friends and family in need. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to be touched by his life.
