Obituary

Lois Geraldine Richardson “Gerrie” age 83 of Laguna Woods, CA passed away in her home on Dec 29th 2021. Gerrie was born in Los Angeles, CA April 11th 1938. She was preceded in death by her father Allen Cate Richardson, her mother Lois Beatrice Richardson & her sister Madeline Sue Garner.

Her surviving relatives are many cousins & their extended families in Southern California & in Texas. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Ray Garner, his 3 children (Holly, Troy & Wendy) and her great niece Brittney & 2 great great nieces Christie & Kennedy.

Gerrie wishes were to be buried alongside her parents in Texas. A memorial graveside service will be held January 21st at Shannon Rose Hills 7301 E Lancaster Ave Fort Worth TX 76112 at 1 pm. Another memorial service will be planned in So California for all her family & friends this summer.

Gerrie was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer 5 years ago. Her love & zest for life and her undying faith in the Lord kept her spirits up & she fought the good battle til she finally succumbed to the disease at the end of last year.

After graduating from high school Gerrie attended Abilene Christian College in Texas. After graduation she went back to LA where she worked for Prudential Insurance Co for 14 years. She then went to work for The Capital Group for 17 yrs. where she published 2 books & travel the country giving seminars & lectures on financial planning & retirement. In her spare time she also went to law school but decided it wasn’t for her. Gerrie decided instead to fulfill her life dream of helping people & she started her own company in 1985 Deluxe Business Systems. A certified Financial Planner & an Investment Advisor Representative w Financial Network Investment Corp she helped many people plan their retirements, while still continuing to give seminars & lectures at many city colleges & universities around So Cal.

After her mother passed away Gerrie decided it was time for, as she would say, “a new adventure.” She moved from Pasadena to Laguna Woods, CA & sold her business. She loved living at Laguna Woods and met many new friends in all the clubs she joined there. She went to many operas & plays took dance classes & loved to swim every day.

Gerrie had a “larger than life” personality & she will be truly missed by all her family & friends & all the people whose lives she touched so deeply!

  1. As was true of all the Richardson/McNutt/Garner women, Gerrie was a strong advocate & personality. Gerrie was no wallflower or “shrinking violet!” An intellectual, Gerrie was highly articulate & capably used the powers of persuasion.
    Strong on the outside, Gerrie was a sweetie on the inside.
